The reason is I wanted it to be all you focus on as you look down at the guitar. You can see the strings across the black body clearly enough for the right hand to cope but everything else is about the neck and the rest sort of visually fades, especially in low light.
It's being built to be a player, "function over form but trying to keep things very neat and tidy" was more or less what was agreed on.
This is going to be very special.
Whilst I wanted the stealth look and the dark lord loves this colour, it's really being built to be an all round great player and look unique without being OTT.
We agreed on UTT and try to keep the neater side of satin black as a theme without straying into anything too themed as such, for example Gothic.
Yes it's stunning.
Thank you so much man !
Ed......It's a wiring channel for the neck pickup wires.
Also, surprising to see The Mail On Sunday in such close proximity to anything that dark.
Charred maple FTW
A lump of 'squidgy' black, surely?
I love the aesthetic of this build. Matt scratchplate too?
Yes all black hardware, Matt bakelite scratchplate and some rather special tuners....also black.
Cool as hell.
Black nail polish is SO last Millennia!!
May I suggest a headstock logo
”Model T Blackencaster”
then in a smaller font underneath...
”None more black”
All writen in black, natch...
i suggest replacing the white dots with something metal, panel pins work quite well.

Body is looking good - couple more coats of Tru Oil and it's done.
Neck is good too - again, few more coats.
Fretboard needs more work - mostly as it's fretted - he ink has gathered by the frets and it needs some careful rubbing back and more ink carefully applying. I've done it to frets 1-5 but it needs the rest doing. Should be ok to Oil up then
