just listening to Chris Evans on the radio this morning and during his “Serious Rockin’l section he played “Hush” by Deep Purple.
Now I’m probably going to get LOL’d off the planet for this one but I much prefer Kula Shaker’s version.
In my defence, your honour I’m not a fan of Deep Purple (or any rock bands of that ilk) and up until this morning I didn’t even realise the song was a cover!
But it got me thinking about covers, I generally find that if I hear a cover version first then I tend to prefer it to the original. One exception to that I can think of is “Tainted Love” where Gloria Jones’s original is far superior to Soft Cell’s version.
Just an observation...

I'd nominate Robert Wyatt's version of Shipbuilding ( my memory of this prompted by his OGWT performance which someone posted on here the other day). But, yes, tends to be familiarity really and that's hard for your head to get past.
