Not just talkin' about me..........
Every week there is a new kid on the block pedal or effect wise and some are unique, some are all hype and some are great but essentially no more than the Emperors new Clothes aka another decent Tube Screamer in a prettier box with an extra switch.
They become the "must have"du jour ,are easy to sell on and get 80% of your money back then suddenly the Heat is off and everybody has moved on to something new........price and demand crashes etc etc.
What are the Real old but Gold standards........? Obviously the Klon but again it's reputation speaks more than the pedal itself.
I'm talking about less exotic stuff and not necessarily Vintage.
Example.........I had forgotten how good a Tim sounds until I played one the other day.
What's your Old but Gold ?

^This, in spades.
Hadn't owned a D+ in years (until very recently, as per my post earlier this week).
I'd totally forgotten how brilliant they sounded.

Prices of these - and a few other not even Japanese, including the FZ-2 and PN-2 - Boss pedals are rising rapidly.
The HM-2 is the sound of a whole sub-genre of music, and an undeniable classic.

Other classics/older pedals that are still great:
Boss RE-20
Boss DD series
Boss CE-2
EQD Hoof
EHX DMM
MXR Phase 90
Pretty much the only pedal that's stayed on my board has been the DM-2.
Phase 90
both absolute classics
Hoof fuzz
SD1
DD7
With those and a half decent amp I can cover all the tones I want to
I have 4 of them now, mostly to keep two of them working on my two main boards.
They are impressively glitchy boxes.
