So out of the blue I bought this Les Paul style guitar:
Its a Japanese LS-150 Tokai Love Rock, finished in violin burst Nitro top. Solid flame maple cap. IMMACULATE through and through. I've owned several Tokai Japanese guitars over the years and due to personal circumstance had to sell them. This one however is a head scratcher, It plays and sounds better than virtually any new Gibson Les Paul I've played or heard (inc CS and Historics) and at a fraction of the price. I don't think I've played a better bang for buck guitar. Bonkers.

Huge Tokai fan here. Owned a Tokai Strat for 33 years so I'm on board!
If you find the right one it really does make you wonder about the real thing. It is a beautiful looking guitar and those pickups do sound great too. I find you just need them a little lower perhaps but they are very even sounding. I would mess around with heights before you rip them out.
I keep my eye on that shop because they are one of the few who specialise in Tokai and know their stuff!
Enjoy it!!
I am also a fan of the Little Guitar Shop and their Tokai's and recently picked up a 1980 LS60 GT that I find difficult to put down. Although, being my first LP I've got nothing to compare it against; just how it feels, plays and sounds, to me, and, it's not too shabby teamed with my Peacekeeper either.

Despite working in Bham and living in the area (ish) I've never been in.. I may remedy this today. I very much like Tokais and G&Ls for starters. Mmm.
LPs.. sunburst or black standards = pickguard on. Goldtops with uncovered black hums = off. Not straightforward at all.
