I agree on all points.... but it does tell a story, just not the one about natural playing wear on a factory finish.

I bet a few old Fenders did end up with the Dulux treatment. I have certainly seen it happen to other guitars, then they look like this when someone tries to clean it off and gives up halfway through

As someone who hates the whole relic concept, I actually thing it looks no better or worse, than most professional relics.

Looks like the kind of distressed furniture the missus keeps suggesting is really trendy

At first glance I did think sunburst finish worn down to a blue primer/basecoat but then you look for more than half a second and it's just another nutter let loose with a paintbrush and some leftover paint
