Conversely its interesting to note that many grime artists (Skepta, Stormzy) have attempted to establish themselves independently of major record labels....
Aside from all that I do think Jools Holland is comparatively varied....
I never watch it live - I record it, so when I do watch it I can fast forward through the rubbish and just see the good stuff.
Although sometimes this entails fast forwarding the whole programme.
Same here.

Of course.
It's such a shame. I see many interesting rock bands touring in the UK from Europe and think it'd be nice to see them on Later, but it never happens. Not only does the show not like rock, it's outlook is more transatlantic.
I suspect fans of many genres could say similar things - country doesn’t get much of a look in for example. I also suspect heavy rock bands haven’t been the easiest to have on a format that tends to reward bands that travel light. JoBo had the full set up this week ( I think) but when he first appeared had to do so in a stripped down way.
I cant recall a loud band I’ve liked on there apart from At the Drive In (I think) who just went nuts
The other performance that sticks in my mind is the first time Ray Lamontagne was on. Amazing.
In fact those two are the only ones I can really remember clearly after decades of watching.
I thought they were both great tonight.
Deal with it!
I gave up by the Sigrid interview.
I remember when it first started most weeks fhere’d be a new or exciting act.
Now It’s just so Islington, a very Ersatz version of world music, of rap, of rock etc.
Last act that was really out of the blue was for me Sigrid when she sang before everyone had heard of her and blew everyone else away.
All too too infrequent now and too many mates of Jules
