During the Brown/Blonde era, Fender designated the lower end amps with brown tolex, and reserved blonde for the top end pro models. The vibroverb was F’s first amp with onboard reverb, so was clearly destined to sit higher up in the product line. No idea why they changed to brown, but I’d hazard a guess that it was based on cost.
By the time the 6G16 was made available for sale, they were already working on the first of the blackface amps.

Which will effect gain of the preamp.
Would like to own an original jtm45/100.
Now that would be a dream amp.

Still, I’d happily buy a 50 watt Nicholls amp from the early 70s.
There has yet to be an amp that I’ve lusted after, I mean all out begged the owner to sell it to me. My Kelly amp from the 60s was almighty there but I played it too cool to be considered lusting.
I guess it would have to have touched a master’s hands to make me lose my mind, something like gassage’s eric Johnson amp.
I'd also fancy a Simms Watt head cuz the logo was so cool :-)
