I guess I installed my Floyd Rose in about 1986 and it has never stayed in tune, the main problem being it rested in two distinct places so I regularly had to tap the bar to put it in tune.
Recently my friend suggested I have a go at filing the bridge or bridge posts to make the contact more even but when I took it apart I realised the problem was that just one of the bridge posts had worn unevenly. Also when I drilled the holes in my guitar I had done it by eye with a handheld drill and the two posts were not parallel with each other.
So last week I ordered a replacement pair of bridge posts (cheap ones from Black Dog) with bigger diameter sleeves and an Allen bolt that screws into them and yesterday I used a friend's pillar drill to sink them in perfectly straight.
My guitar now seems to stay in tune. I just wish I'd solved this problem a couple of decades ago.
