When you pay £50 for a shirt in a retail shop it has probably cost the wholesaler/distributor about £4 and the retailer about £7
Actually, my point was more about the instantaneous flip on the same platform - which (to use your reference) isn’t necessarily good business sense - as the world and his dog can see where it came from, how much for and when (yesterday).

Plus, everyone in the same For Sale groups or Marketplace notifications would have seen it the day before.

This is a good one too, from serial hustlers garage-uk.
From £340.00 with 50% worn frets...

...to £895 within the space of a couple of days and no mention of the worn frets (maybe they levelled them in that short time)

Traded it to some chap, next day it's back on facebook at double the price.
About an hour later the case is on separately. Description says he bought it new at £75, selling at a bargain for £40. I originally bought it new for £45 i think..
Then i see the neck is on, for just under what i was selling the guitar for..
Then the unloaded body appears...
i still see it from time to time floating around facebook.. I think Mrs L made a cheeky offer on it for a silly low amount citing all the flaws she 'could see' (knew about)
A likely 'storey' :-)
Agree it is highly annoying though, especially when do so indiscreetly and brazenly.
In the same way, you can usually track this seller's stuff back to items previously on eBay/elsewhere.

Putting my shop/ retail owner penny in (again)
We don't work on that sort of margins at all. I wish we did!!
Primark etc might do.
I imagine the guitar industry is pretty similar to mine.
If that shirt cost £50, the retailer paid £17/£20 for it. (in most cases).
Take rent and rates, running costs, staff costs and then VAT and you aren't left with loads!
Hence why I now want to try and support the real indie guitar shops. Had enough of the bedroom dealers after a year of chopping and changing guitars.
I'd rather save and give my money to someone who's created a proper business and offers a genuine service , warranty and after sale policy.
Paintings get sold at car boot sales for £5 then make £1000+ if they are worth something. Sellers should research what they are selling.
