I still like one of their 57 Champ, but at over £1k....I can't quite stomach it.

Same here, I ended up shifting my blues deluxe (wish I hadn't) for £300. Started off at £400 and then no bites until I hit £300. Even at £320 no sniffs, really odd. It was a mim one, but even so in really good nick.
It's odd that people will pay more for a USA one, when the Mexican ones are better built...

  • I had a heavily-modded Blues Junior that I really liked, but it was still a little boxy and new ones are definitely overpriced compared to other amps around the same price point.

  • I paid £600 for a 2nd hand Tweed 59 Bassman 410. No regrets whatsoever.
    Worth every penny.

  • If they did a Jnr Pro or Blues Jnr in a small head I might be tempted. I used to run my old Jnr Pro through a Marshall 2x12 and it got rid of the boxiness, unfortunately the cabs coloured the sound too much so it sounded like a Marshall

  • Hot Rods are fine but way too loud. I've never put the volume past 2 ,I reckon. I've had all 3 and the pro junior was my favourite, but I picked it up used for €250. Agree with others, A princeton probably better long term bet. But I have a Quilter solid state head now which does the job!

Yes they are but you get the money back when you sell.

Not if you bought a Hotrod new. The ludicrous thing is that this amp - the one that’s quite a bargain new - often sells for barely half that second hand, whereas the overpriced Juniors actually hold their value better. In some cases you can even get more for a Blues Jr than a Hotrod... which is crazy.

    Yeah but USA, USA!!!
I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.

The Blues Junior is a boxy sounding pile of arse. Can be much improved by putting the amp in a bigger box.

For shipping to the person who bought it on eBay, allowing you to buy a better amp with the money.

I wouldn't have a Blues Jnr for free.
I would, and then I'd immediately sell it for a proper valve 1x12 combo like a Laney Super Cub 12R or a uses H&K 1x12 Tubemeister 18.
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.
