Nice job on the vid!
Have you thought about fitting a Deluxe with 6L6s and a solid-state rectifier? That tightens them up a fair bit and increases the headroom a little.

I like the sound of the 65ri tbh. Might see if can hunt one down. I recently sold the Supro and wanting to replace it with something.
It does actually produce slightly more power despite what would normally happen with an impedance change from 6V6s to 6L6s, because a stock DR is quite badly mismatched for its speaker, and in fact 6L6s are closer. It’s this mismatch that mostly causes the characteristic flubby sound, not the 6V6s themselves.

@ICBM you know your deluxe reverbs!
I love the natural sound, but hate the way they fart out at just too low a volume to be fully usable with a band, with the range out sounds I want. I know a lot of people won't understand that, but there are two sounds I use that just don't work with a stock one - clean (meaning *no clipping*, no matter how hard you hit the strings), and heavy rhythm crunch like from a Mesa V-Twin pedal. Yes, I know these are not what most people would want a Deluxe for . But I do... and I've played through lots of them and found it difficult and frustrating.
The 6L6/solid-state rectifier mod helps a lot though, it makes them just about enough.

I like V30s in Mesa Rectifiers though.

For the record, I think the newer HRD OD channel is fine. I think the older/originals were a bit marmite maybe.

My general point is that I love original SF Fenders when you can get them in their ideal volume range... Deluxes probably most of all (Ive had a Deluxe, a Vibby, a Pro and back in the day ..a Princeton) but their edge of breakup is often an abrasive mess that might have its place in garage punk but probably not much else. I’ve never owned an original Blackface ... I’m guessing maybe they breakup slightly differently because of the subtle circuit revisions?? This Lil King certainly seems to go into clipping much softer somehow. It sounds great wound up through an attenuator...so maybe that’s what the modern boutique boys are getting right... after all..Leo never designed them to distort.
Of course the disadvantage is that you have to carry the thing! Which is why I've never owned one, only used them as the amp of choice in rehearsal rooms and hired backline gigs. (Although I did own a pair of Mesa Trem-o-verbs, which are actually even heavier.) I like the Pro Reverb a lot too, but it's almost the same weight as the Twin.
