This is the 70th solo of the Month (SotM) Challenge.
The challenge is now open and ends at midnight 24th May 2021.
Discussion:
Also, feel free to comment on how you approached the solo, which will add a bit more interest and maybe we can learn something from each other.
Title: Three Score & Ten
Tempo: 75 bpm.
Structure:
1 bar count-in
Section A: | Emaj7 | Bm7 A | x 4
Section B: | G D | G D | G D | G D |
Section C: | Emaj7 | Bm7 A | x 4
End: Emaj13
The should be headroom to record your solo. Try to set a level without excessive master limiting, because we want to avoid loudness wars.
Voting will start soon after the submission deadline, with each voter selecting their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.
First choice gets 5 points - Second choice gets 3 points - Third choice gets 1 point
The order and scores of the top three entries will be announced soon after the voting ends.
No prizes. It's just for fun.
As people submit their entries, I'll post them below to hopefully promote some discussion on approaches used for the solo:
It's not a competition.

0,11,11,11,12,11 ? I think it has every interval bar the 4th
It's a beauty.
That's one already in the playlist. We're off to a quick start.
@Bellycaster, hearing you're last recordings (haven't lingered here that much, so haven't heard that much), I must say that you have a very distinctive sound. Like a signature. Really nice.
I used my recently acquired Strat for this one. It's Debut for SOTM. Thought I'd go for a little contrast between Neck and then Bridge. All done with GuitarRig5 in Cubase.
It'll be good to hear what everyone comes up with for this as it's very soulful.
I'm using my recently acquired Ibanez Az2402, which is also having its SotM debut. So it's a NGDs SotM.
But I've only got half way and now I'm stumped for ideas. This won't be one take, but a game of two halves.
Mine was a game of 3 halves I often get that were I think of something up to a point and then need to go away because I'm getting frustrated or I have something else that needs doing. Like this one, I'd use the point of changes as a place to carry on from.
I would've posted mine, but got bogged down with all the fiasco with my Bank that's happened in the last month. A lot of time went into those threads. I guess the moment has gone now for posting a NGD thread, but who knows. Got the day off tomorrow, so might do a belated one.
Usual approach - loop the backing track and play over it until something comes to mind, practice it, record it. Nothing fancy
I've just checked and I can download the Youtube clip and extract the audio to mp3. Do you want me to stick the extracted mp3 in the playlist or do you want to send an mp3 yourself.
You can just send me an mp3 if you want to. Anyway, in the mean time I'll post it in the playlist later and you can let me know whether you're happy with it or not.
