right then my little pickles.. Welcome to the 16th Cover Challenge
The rules are simple - there are no rules*
We all start with the same song suggestion and record our own cover version. It's up to your imagination as to what you do with it. It could be faithful to the original or as out there as you wish.
@bezzer has spoken and the choice for the next cover challenge to be covered in the cover challenge is:
Wait for it....
"Cardiff" by Stone Sourhttps://youtu.be/c7meuHwLdAk but... there’s a twist... you can choose to cover the Stone Sour track or you can choose to cover
ANY song beginning with the letter “
C”
however... if you cover the Stone Sour track you automatically get a bonus 5 points... if you cover the other you start from scratch!...*
RULES:Entries to be sent in mp3 format to the following Email address:
covers@thefretboard.co.ukYou may wish to submit artwork to go with your entry. It brightens up the playlist and might subliminally get you more votes but it's not mandatory.
Entries close at 11.30pm on Friday 26th November... get cracking
A playlist (below) of all the entries will also be posted in the voting thread. Vote for your top 3 with 5 points awarded for first place, 3 points for second place and 1 point for third place. Entrants obviously aren't allowed to vote for their own entry.
Comments
Basically this track is a load of eastern tinged riffing in C#. that's my basic assessment!! Lob in some angsty vocals, sorted. Righto then,,,,

Sorry,,, not sorry
The bloke who runs gilmourish.com would spontaneously combust.
I think my cover has done it justice to be fair…
dodgy vocals - check
dodgy production - check
dodgy pentatonic solo - check
dodgy strings - check
pig - check
I’ve also shortened it so that’s a bonus
At one point I didn't realise I had my monitors turned up loud while I was listening on headphones, which led to a spell in the doghouse.
Personally, I love the track, but it is very over hyped
I've never really warmed to Pink Floyd at all, I think partly due to the slightly dour lyrics and vocal delivery. Then last year I wrote and recorded a song about the pandemic, and a good friend said it reminded him of Roger Waters!
