After I had this one for a year or so I had a nice message from a guy in the states who had seen one of my pictures of it abs recognised that he had owned it in the mid 90s. He included a photo where the bridge pickup had been flipped as I believe that was the thing to do with the early EMG 89s so that the voiced coil in Single coil mode was towards the middle. These days you can choose which part of an EMG 89 is voiced for the single coil mode.
Here’s that shot along with a Proper amp!

If he likes a bit of Jazz Fusion, I would agree with his taste. That's a great shot too, a beast of a rig.
I had no idea that pick ups could be flipped like that, though the idea makes sense to suit for tonal taste.
Mix of panned harmonies and shred. It's what I heard in my head when listening to the backing track.

Just curious. Is that fast section from 32s a mixture of picking plus hammer-ons and pull-offs, or just picking?

tbh I’m not sure what I was doing there - I had an entry lined up but couldn’t find the GarageBand file so just plugged my Strat in tonight and rattled one off to save trying to recreate the old one. I’m not keen but not feeling motivated enough to spend hours on something more planned
It pads the playlist out if nothing else and elevates a few n comparison :-). It’s great just being part of this months as there are so many excellent entries - @digitalkettle ’s in particular
