A new Firebird-ish build here, it's a bit of a Frankenbird made from
this prev build :
I took it's neck out and made a new one, then decided it could home a pair of Mojotone P90s. So the pickup area got routed out, a new block put in and new routing etc.
It already had a harder wood block added for the trem posts and another for the trem screws - the cedrela is soft & light.
Things & whatnots:
Pearl mix over black base, it goes more olive in different lights or a bit more spangly, (there's gold in the mix).
Bog oak fretboard, 5200 yrs old from a local source and black as night (similar to the prev neck, I saved that board for a future something). Just looks like ebony from any distance but I like having it there.
7lb 5oz and balances perfectly with an upper body strap button - no heel button needed.
Control covers etc are made from finest Tone Aloominum.
Mojotone QC P90s. These are noiseless but good, not the usual tone-dead things.
The trem works perfectly. It's wearing a Kev Hurley ally block with screw & bushed arm.
Apologies for the pic quality, rushing about at the mo and I can't seem to even manage phone pics : /

When I looked at the first pic I thought it was a distressed job, but then realised it was the reflections of the trees in that superb finish
Love it to bits. That colour is the dogs cahoonas.
Another inspiring build from you.
More power to your ( presumably sore ) elbows Sir !
Cracking guitar either way. Anyone called dibs yet...?
I also thought it had an odd-looking relic until I saw the 2nd photo...
@Kittyfrisk the switch just fills a hole, it used to do series/parallel/split in it's previous humbucker life. Might make it a phase switch or a bass cut some time.
