FS: Matchless Nighthawk Reverb
Bought on this 'ere parish late last year as a grab'n'go alternative to my big Matchless rig. Cos I'm old and lazy. And the big stuff pulls my arms out their sockets!!!
Can't believe how good it sounds. In all but the very largest spaces, it's every bit the, ahem, match for the 30 Watters. And the oversized 1x12 has almost as much throw/spread as the 2x12.
Plus the reverb is a really nice addition. Matchless can be brutally 'in yer face' and I'm not a good enough player to pull that off without a little ambience.
So why am I selling? Well, the Nighthawk is so good that it's identical sounding to my '93 HC (which I'll never let go of) and it's a bit 'boring' having two identical amps. So I'm only selling to raise fun tokens for other unnecessary purchases.
Looking for what I paid. £2000. I don't have the original bomb proof packaging, so it's collection only from just south of Luton.
“Don't bore us, get to the chorus!”

Gonna be all over the place for a few weeks and at the moment I can't be sure if this will be with me.
Still here for a couple of days though if anyone's on the cusp.

But everyone's either got cold feet or simply vanished before actually coming over to get it. Or even try it.
I appreciate it's a chunk of cash and maybe a pretty niche amp. Plus the fact I won't ship naturally reduces the market.
But this amp has, for some reason, been disproportionately attractive to flip-floppers.
There's a lot of Matchless Lightning love on the forum. Great amp indeed. But ask any C30 owner which channel they use, and the vast majority live on the EF86.
I have a HC30, so the Nighthawk is simply surplus to requirements.
Price drop to £1800, which is what I've been offered as a trade-in.
(I thought the £2k I paid was about right, but maybe as a long term Matchless owner I felt less perceived 'risk'?)
