Ive compared some recordings I did before I stripped it with some I recorded last night, same amp settings, no pedals.
Not a difference, nothing, not a jot!
So much for the theory that Poly "suffocates tone"

To be fair it's a reasonably thin Emron finish (catalyzed polyester) on these, I'd be interested to hear the difference with a very thick coated guitar before and after, though I have my suspicions.

Uh oh, now I want a Westbury Standard! Damn you. Are they good in general? Or do you have to get lucky?
Ask anyone here and they'll tell you what a cracker they are.
Do it, get one!

It's a very clean method but easy to go too hot and make a mess.

Disregard Last transmission, wrong thread!

I have a black one here that has some chips, dings and touchups that could
get the same treatment. The solid coloured standards were either maple or ash with a veneer on top so it could be pot luck what's underneath.

I also have to big up the Dimarzio k10's in this, they came stock in old mij Hondo amongst others, bright, punchy with plenty bottom, go really well in mahogany bodies. Yum.
