Loads of fun when you get blue stain for a blue guitar and the yellowness of the wood makes it green. Its one of the reasons very pale figured maple is worth a lot more.
Anyway, if you want close to magenta you may need to start a few shades away. As always, test on scrap, especially if after a specific colour
