It's the sort of diagnosis we all dread but thankfully these days very often has a positive prognosis. In fact a close friend of mine found himself in a very similar situation ten years ago, had some radiotherapy followed by an op to remove the bowel growth and has been fine ever since. I wish you the same success Tim.

Best of Luck.  I'm sure you're in safe hands.  Speak with a stoma nurse soon so you know whats involved and how you can lead an absolutely normal life. 

Robotics is the way forward the damage to other tissues is less and it seems recovery is quicker.

Tough news to get, for sure - but it's good they caught it relatively early. I was posting a year ago about an upcoming op for removing my prostate. That was robot-assisted, too. The surgery went very well and I was out of the hospital after about 3 days - quite amazing really. I wish you the best: obviously it's going to be life changing, but hey - you'll be alive!
