My problem lies with the fact he didn't mention he was going to sell them on. I wouldn't have sold them otherwise. I got a price I wanted. I'm happy. But I'm also a bit aggrieved that they have ended up on eBay.

    Greenwoods music I think.
Tbh once you sell something you have to forget n move, as long as u get the price u wanted then that's all that matters.
he's obviously a shop/dealer ands he's only in it for making money.

Come on chaps, a sale is a sale. Well done to @robt1291, he obviously didn't want to wait around here getting all the bargain hunters trying to knock him down to the last penny.

That said, I hope old Greenwood paid what you were asking, given his history of buying at market value on here and then hiking the prices up for eBay. His perogative of course but not really in the spirit of things.

Make sure you post the pre-CBS porn if/when it arrives Rob! :)
Agree as long as OP was happy and got the amount he was prepared to accept.

Is old Greenwood open about his business or does he pretend to be a normal punter? The latter wouldn't really be cricket...if he's using the forum that is.

Quite a brave operating model in the current climate, the greenwood prices always seem above the used market price, so be surprised if selling much , if there's people out there prepared to pay those prices can we track them down and get them on this forum? :)

Personally I don't see the problem.
The guy wants to buy, pays a price the seller's happy with - job done.
If he wants to try to sell it on at a profit or chuck it on the fire that's his prerogative, it's now his guitar to do with as he wants.

Totally agree although as @armitaan says, I'd be surprised if he's selling much.

I've been very surprised recently how this sort of practice has become the norm with dealers scouring forums and eBay for guitars and then within days relisting the guitars on eBay at inflated prices. There is one dealer i've dealt with recently who does this and currently has a very high end, rare vintage guitar for sale that is still listed on another dealers website for around £1000 less than he's offering it for now. The slightest bit of research by a potential buyer would bring this up. Not sure if it's arrogance, just chancing it or what?! Nice work if you can get it though ;)

It seems to be common practice in many areas to over inflate prices and hope that someone clicks buy.

Item is then sourced and supplied to customer. I guess some people have more money than sense.

Just look at the huge variation in prices on widely available stuff on eBay and Amazon. Opportunists I believe is the correct terminology.

I think its so funny the way people on this site and forums all think they are all experts all club together like big wanna be buddies even though they dont know each other and bitch and moan about people and what they are doing etc its just plain jealousy and stupidity, if you were all so interested in these guitars why didnt one of you buy them?? but no just just the usual tyre kickers and bedroom players who havnt got a clue and dont work in the industry!

O and just for information guys there a tonnes of traders on here and to be honest some of the prices on here are ridiculous!!

I sold a les paul on here last week to a trader in London which turns out he owns a shop in denmark street in London which didnt bother me at all, he made the effort to drive for hours and collect he paid me the price I asked job done, good luck to him if he can make money on it as I imagine running a business isnt cheap!!

If it wasnt for him it would still be sitting on this site getting the usual stupid offers, almost every post for sale on this site says if "if only I had the money, would you take a kidney for it lol" - Its a joke!

I guess one of the attractions/strengths of this forum is that there is, to some degree, a level of community where a lot of people, in different ways, try to support each other and do so precisely because they
are musicians, and again for a lot of people, because they are in the industry.

Believe it or not, it's a good thing that this isn't just one big shop.  I think there was a mixed bag of comments/discussion about you ,sorry Mr Greenwood, and your his approach to the Forum, none of which, I don't think, resorted to personal insults.  I'm not sure it's a great way to introduce yourself to the Forum by insulting people in this way.

Join in properly or fuck off.  You might find that you could do with some help/advice/support one day.......as you say, it can be tough trying to run a business these days.

You see, this is an interesting comment - "to be honest some of the prices on here are ridiculous".....

Perhaps you could bring your experience to this for the benefit of all.  What do you mean?  Are they too high, too low?  Could you break it down a bit.

I guess he must mean they're too low? How on earth could they be too high, if dealers are willing to pay the price? :-)

@IanM557 You sold a Les Paul on here last week?? With which account because it wasn't this one.

And you know having two accounts is a big no no on here right??

The original comments were pretty fair I think, I don't think there's was any particular objection to what was going on, think people were just surprised looking to flip at 25% mark-up in what's a pretty depressed used market. Obviously if as a trader you are offering various warranties, servicing etc then understand marking up (also the tax that's being paid as a trader:))

I am not against traders doing what they have to do. And I have sold to traders in the past.. But I was just a little disheartened knowing that they aren't being played and are just being sat in cases waiting for a new owner. If I had have known that I would have held on to them... They deserve to be played not sat in cases.

Good luck to the Greenwood model - But I wouldn't pay those prices... I find Coda music to be my go to for used gear.

Can we close this thread now ?

    Happy Monday :)
