    Royal yacht
    Ghost tour

    I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

    I only stayed in Edinburgh either side of a trip to Iceland as i flew from there. Didn't really see a lot beyond Princes Street and its surroundings. Although i did visit a friend in wiener in Queensferry. I'd like to go back for a proper stay, it really is beautiful.

    The giant plates of nachos you can get at The Auld Hoose also appeals.

    For haggis, neeps and tatties, try Whiski Bar & Restaurant on the High Street. Bloody lovely!

    The beggars are a bit cheeky there, don't make eye contact if they look foreign

    Had a long weekend in Edinburgh three weeks ago or so;

    Red Dog guitar shop was good for a ten minute browse.

    Definitely have breakfast in Caffiene Drip (it's worth the queue) then another day have waffles for breakfast in Affogato, around the corner from Caffiene Drip.

    Mary King's Close was excellent, we went quite late (9pm or so). If the weather's nice, take a walk up to Holyroodhouse and then around and up Arthur's Seat. Will take 45 mins or so to walk, but amazing views from the top. Walk back to town via The Auld Hoose and have their monster nachos, and you'll never need to eat again for the rest of your life.

    We went to a cool little Tiki cocktail bar called 52 Canoes, not too expensive (compared to London anyway) but cosy and chilled.

    I went with my wife to this Frankenstein's restaurant/pub and I'm pretty sure you'd enjoy it - we sat in a darkened booth and couldn't read the menu because we didn't bring our reading glasses.

    Cheers @stimpsonslostson ;

    Have added those suggestions on that thread to my list.  That Gelato place I see is mentioned a couple of times...it must be good, hopefully the weather warrants icecream!

    If weather is nice a wee day trip on train somewhere further north, fife or beyond isn't a bad thing... Plus get to see the 3 bridges.
