PRS DGT controls

What's Hot
Hello all,

I've recently (finally) got my first DGT, which I love.  It feels and sounds great.  But I'm wondering what nuances and interesting things people do using the individual volume controls and taps.

Thanks!

My new one, because it's pretty and I didn't do a NGD :)

The older ones drop quite a bit of volume when you tap them but sound better.

For live I used to run a Koji with a slight boost which I would kick in when I did a song with tapped pickups.

Congrats they are my favourite guitars.

I like the old 335/Les Paul players’ trick - both pick-ups on with the neck wound down to 7-8. Gives a great fat lead tone with plenty of definition:

You may find the tone control useful when using lots of gain to take some of the high-end out.

The best PRS guitar ever made, in my view.

It is not the guitars main job, but the DGT does single coil flavoured Strat-esq tones, from a humbucker, better than most

Welcome to the club! I like to blend the volumes on a clean channel for tonal variety.
I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.

  • From everything I read on here, so many people said they were hands down their favourite guitars, not just PRS.  I had to get one eventually.  Very, very impressed and I've been through a pile of PRS over the last two years.

for me it's as much about getting the volume balance (or diffrence) that you want when flipping between pickups - I'd got in the habit of playing rhythm on the bridge pickup and lead on the neck on my LP so being able to pull back the bridge volume was handy - that carried over to the DGT when it arrived
    Red ones are better.

  • Mine is a Wood Library with ebony fretboard and peghead facing. I think I got the last of a batch that Sound Affects Premier had that were a batch from PRS Experience 2018. They went for around £3.5k.
I think, now, across the range, Wood Library are £4k to £5k

  • I guess the additional £1400 is where diminishing returns set in but the back of the neck on mine is lovely.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph that's giving me GAS.

Passed up on a used DGT Standard a few years back, for £1600. (Epic facepalm.)

I paid £1500 for the mint one I’m playing in my profile pic, just over a year ago.

I think it’s probably the best humbucking guitar I’ve owned....

  • this has got me thinking about owning one too! Damn! Seems very versatile. I never really likes PRS now i'm keen on this DGT as it seems like a guitar you can take out and get ever tone from good single coil to humbucker
     les paul type tones.
