I prefer to use soap. Shower gels are often greasy, frequently expensive and wasteful in terms of packaging.

I still use Imperial Leather, have done since I was a kid. My wife uses some exotic stuff, made from unicorn milk mixed with pixie dust, judging by what it costs.

We have that chemical crap hand wash in the bathroom as well as a bar of Dove and usually a selection of shower gels. Take your pick! Swarfega and/or liquid  dishsoap for stubourn staines when gloves were omitted or split.

I can be obsessive about clean hands most of the time but will happily get filthy on occasion.

We have soap at home. Most days for me it's gym/swim then shower using gel.

Yes, a lot of soap is very drying for your skin, especially on your face.  I also think soap is hard to rinse off and leaves some kind of a residue on your skin, which probably contributes to drying. 

I've found Lynx shower gel to be very drying myself, especially on my neck.  I use Dove shower cream and it's great.

I was thinking more along the lines of the banning of "gel douche" post Brexit....I think Wrights Coal Tar will be reintroduced

Every time I get the soap out to lube my screw I think the same. Just as I'm driving it in..

You never get clean with soap and it leaves shit on your skin and dries it out and Imperial Leather smells like hanky dirt washed dried poo.  I don't get soap, you're better off with just water if you've run out.  Soap is nasty.

I never feel like I've fully washed off shower gel. Most soap is drying though, but dove is just right.

Also I find shower gel doesn't remove pit stink too well
