Your Signal Path

What's Hot

For this thread i am not concerned with the make and model of the pedal, just the order of your pedals in your signal path and what they do (i'm sure lots will just say Helix, and that is fine)

For example, mine is

Wah
Boost
Fuzz
Compressor
Distortion
Tremolo
Self Oscillating Flanger
Delay
Tuner - used mainly as a cut off for the above
EQ
Looper - reverb then flange then octave down
And lastly Delay

    Helix, but for general use:

    Guitar
    Wah
    Compressor

side chain with Octave down, dirt, EQ and compression for bassish sounds

    Phaser
    Dirt
    Phaser
    Delay
    Reverb
    Amp sim
    Tremolo x2
    Looper
    More reverb

Putting delay and reverb before the amp was at Drew's suggestion - I rather like it.

    Alright:

    tuner (and signal turner-offer)
    compressor
    octaver
    (M5- various modulations, pitch shifters)
    overdrive
    overdrive
    ----
    delay
    (M5- reverbs, modulations, rotary speaker)
    booster
    ----

M5 is in one loop of a signal routing flippy floppy box, the ODs and delay (and my amp's preamp section) are in the other, so I can use the M5 either in front of the amp/drives or in the loop depending on what I'm using it for.

    @english_bob ;
do you use your octaver for octave up or down or both?

It's a BYOC clone of the Mu-Tron Octave Divider- it can do octave down or octave down+octave up (but not octave up alone). It's analogue, so the octave up is in the Octavia/Green Ringer ballpark, so is more prominent around the 9th-12th frets, and both octaves get all tired and emotional if you play chords and/or play sloppy. I've normally got it set to give me both octaves.

    With amp and pedalboard it's

    Guitar
    Wireless
    Fuzz
    Wah/Volume
    Drive
    Compressor
    Boost
    Tremolo
    Modulation
    Delay
    Reverb
Amp ( no loop, no built in reverb)

I also have a "satellite" board which I add for more ambient stuff which is an Ehx Superego with a Pitch Fork and Zoom MS70CDR in it's loop. I just plug it in between the reverb pedal and amp.

    Otherwise, it's
    Guitar
    Wireless

Rather unorthadox now I think of it, but it works very well for me.

My home rig is in a state of gradual evolution from this a few years ago and is currently ...

    compressor

    noise suppressor (send)

    (side chain to tuner)

    phaser

    clean boost

    overdrive/boost

    dual overdrive/boost

    pre-amp/overdrive

    noise suppressor (return)

    pitch shifter

    volume pedal

    rhythm/solo switchable attenuation

    (amplifier input)

    (amplifier fx send)

    analogue delay

    digital delay

    digital delay modeller/looper

stereo digital delay (L R out)

    stereo looper (L R)

    Pre-amp/speaker emulator (x2 L R)

    stereo rack compressor (L R)

    (mixing desk L R)

Stereo reverb (in desk aux send)

    .... I think?
    :-/

[edit] For comparison, my live rig ...

    compressor

    clean boost

    overdrive

    volume pedal

For my live rig I think this is the sequence, but I use a GT6 (in manual mode) with two drive pedals in the loop, so some of the internals to the GT6 are a bit of a guess. But this is how I'd basically arrange things for any set up.

    Guitar
    Tuner
    Noise Gate
    Wah
    Compressor
Overdrive (Tubescreamer type pedal) - in the GT6 loop
Distortion (more drive/distortion) - in the GT6 loop
    Volume pedal
    Delay (~300ms) with repeats
    Delay (slap back) single repeat
    Chorus
3dB clean boost for a slight lift
6dB clean boost to go from rhythm to lead
    Reverb
Amp (into the clean channel) - nothing in the amp loop. The levels are set so the clean boosts don't overdrive the amp itself.

The GT6 might soon be replaced with a Helix LT where I'd probably set things up in a similar manner

    For home recording it's:
    Guitar
    Zoom UAC-2 interface (USB3.0)
    Computer
    Reaper
Ampsim (usually S-Gear 2 or Amplitube Fender 2).

Yamaha HS7 monitors attached to my Zoom UAC-2

    It's not a competition.

    1) Compressor
    2)  Pitch shifter/harmoniser
    3) Light OD
    4) OD
    5) Fuzz
    6) Booster
    V) FX LOOP
    7) Mods (via  Mobius)
    8) Delays (via Nemesis)
    Amp reverb

The numbered loops are all in a BOSS ES-8 so can  go in any order I want, although generally I keep them in that sequence. I also have an expression pedal which can talk to the pitch shifter  through a TRS cable via  the ES-8 and to the bods and delays via midi. Plus there's a tuner which isn't in the signal chain but is split out via the ES-8. The V is  movable so I can put any pedal in any order either before  or after the loop.
