  • I heard that all Helix units bought in the next week come with a Cadburys Creme Egg.

And that it's waterproof if you apply the newest firmware, but only if you don't get it wet.

Most likely said shop-womble got confused by the imminent arrival of the LT.

No, not at all - deffo the original Helix.  I'd been talking to him about getting one through him, and the new price on the website is lower than the price he could get one!

I know that Line 6 have been working like crazy recording IRs . Dan Boul from 65 Amps has been doing that for them.
Maybe it's connected to a next level product

Perhaps they are going the Apple route and will bring a new model out every year, almost exactly the same as the last one, but with something vital missing.

Actually, thinking about it, a Helix 2 could gain the Wireless capability of the Spider amps.

But even if the hardware is updated slightly, the Helix will remain.  Line 6 are known for maximising product lifecycle, look at the DL4.

Given I just got mine if they are about to release something with more sexyness I'll be a bit miffed. Not at anyone in particular, just you know, miffed.
    Red ones are better.

That's the sort of thing that happens to me, either buy on the bleeding edge or the wane :( . I wouldn't put it past Line 6 to be working on a Mk2 for Winter NAMM

i would imagine the R&D on the HELIX was pretty massive, so they will want to recoup the cost as much as possible, which means selling as many units as possible, and keeping the interest high for the forseeable future.

Fractal caused a massive stir when the Axe FXII was released - it's inevitable with tech gear like this

I'd feel exactly the same way.  My thoughts are there's no smoke without fire so there could be some truth in it.  Also the release of the LT could suggest they've past the peak of selling the big one.  Who knows?

I know the Helix is all I'll ever need, but so was an iPhone 4, better start saving!

I would be surprised. Native.. LT and Helix all seem to be built around the same code so what would a HW change bring? Unless something is out of production or borked.

If the LT and native firmware was not compatible I'd be worried.

Maybe they stop making it and only produce the cheaper LT?

    They tried that.

    Turns out it's not true.
