Right. My honeyburst is coming home from the office/guitar store tomorrow night and losing the pickguard and the pickup covers.

Need it to be July now!!

Beautiful guitar, nice work fella. I love the back of the body and neck, I have the black on my 50's Tribute. After a few months of ownership this only issue I have is with the satin finish. It is very easy to scratch but I have bought a small pot of paint from Northwest Guitars to touch them up.

There was a slight mark to the paint underneath where the scratch plate was but otherwise no issues out of the box

But yes it would be easy to mark especially if it was gigged hard. I do love the satin finish though.

I Find modern poly finishes on the Gibsons makes them look tacky and cheap like it's been over done like I cheap Chinese copy. My 2016 standard was like that and had slight runs in the lacquer too

Inspired by Fortheloveofguitar's efforts I grabbed my new acquisition from my office/guitar store and got set for some subtle tweaks. (I've got the Honeyburst one)

Except I forgot to take the soldering iron home to, so no pickup cover removal today.

That's ok though. I can at least take the pickguard off.

Until I took it off and realised that it left rather a rough screw hole...

Well, whilst it's in bits...a few more pics

    Slight dodgy switch fitting...

But i'm going to put the poker chip on anyway....

    And the back

So I put it back together and thought I'd have a little noodle for 10 minutes.

An hour later....other than the pokey chip I'm pretty sure there is nothing I'm going to change on it. Fingerboard needs some lemon oil, and maybe straplocks - but that's it!

Looking forward to the Goldtop arriving now!

I'm really impressed with what I can see with the fit and finish on your honeyburst. The rear of that guitar is lovely!

@ellwood  just put the pickguard screw back in the hole, sure you'll have a screw in an odd place but still looks better than having a large piece of cream plastic in an odd place :D

Wait it's a spare screwhole, surely we can come up with more useful suggestions for it. How about using it to attach a plectrum holder? Or even a drinks holder??? Maybe you could insert an extra mirror to really give that "mod" look.

Or even, possibly, a pickguard :)

I really fancied a goldtop, but the honeyburst just speaks to me.  Reminds me of an LP Studio I bought and refinished many years ago...

Only difference being that the Studio had an ebony neck.

To be honest I was kicking myself for not tracking down a Gold Top. But.

The more time I spend with it the more I live the look...and the feel of it. Really pleased with it

And then the phone rang. I put a deposit on a Gold Top for July with Guitar Guitar last week. Turns out they have one in stock. Incoming for Thursday...

    That's looking great mate :)

I always pop the screw back in the old hole too. Looks better than broken paint around the old hole

Nice work bagging the last goldtop. That's saved you a long wait until July

I shall expect an update once the covers are off

No big deal. I wasn't expecting it until July anyway. And the guy that called up was great, so no point getting worked up.
