    Depending on budget,
    Boss Ls-2
with a Sd-1 on one loop and a DS1 on the other.

    Failsafe.
    Cheap (ish)
    replaceable anywhere in the world
Easy to sell when you finish with it.

A Marshall Guvnor 2 and a Marshall Bluesbreaker 2 pushed really close together
Tried that combination...its pretty decent if you set the BB2 to boost. But I preferred Guvnr2 with a tubescreamer after it.
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

AMT preamps offer a good choice of amp styles for a sensible amount of money.

It's what I used to use into my old800.

The benefit of the LS-2 is that you can get A+B loops mixed
    or
A -B -Bypass to give s pseudo 3 channel rig.

I'd look into Amptweaker Tight Drive pro or big Rock pro. I own the drive and it's a truly versatile pedal that you can tweak to sound great into pretty much anything. Built like a tank too. The pro version has the boost too, I reckon the big rock would be the one.
