Looks like Ryan Adams has ditched his trusty Princeton Reverbs in favour of Benson amps. I've got to say, they sound and look stunning. GAS is cruel!

Have no love for "fender sounding amps" but my god are those good to look at

They do look nice but the prices aren't quite as attractive.

  • They are expensive... And a 2 month wait time.

They must have a lot of orders.

TGP flavour of the month I think.

    Yeah, I did wonder.

They look nice, but they sound... Well, like a lot of amps. Really really good for blues and rock and nice cleans.

I can't wait until they release their take on a dual rec. ;)

A single preamp valve, plus a single EL84 output valve, making a 1w amp, 700 dollars.

1x12 to go with it, 400 dollars.

It feels like there's a crime being committed, but I can't identify the guilty party.

They do a rotary amp that looks cool but costs a bomb.

look great! Would you need to put shipping and taxes on top of there prices? That would be really expensive as there are no UK dealers i'm aware of?

Yeh, shipping and taxes on top I guess. And the dollar exchange rate is killing us at the moment. Stick to UK builders is the answer! They do look and sound great though

A couple of years ago when I posted on here about Benson amps I was mocked for liking the"pyjama" covered amps.  Looks like they've now got some following and a pricetag to match!

They used to charge extra for a 240v transformer as well so the price is even higher for us folk.  Not sure if that's still the case though.

You always seem a step ahead. You point them out, get laughed at, then a year down the line prices have doubled thanks to a wait list.

    Your fault ;)

I wouldn't worry, there are plenty of equally wonderful sounding amps available these days.

If you want a Fender sounding amp, don't you buy a Fender?
There's a lot of "Emperor's New Clothes" going on here.

No, they don't sound as good as the boutique offerings, even though some of them are just as expensive.

Sorry to break it you both but it's true, an amp that expensive is indeed not worth trying for, etc, Bryan, Ryan or any other big name be damned, whoever it is putting down that kind of wedge has more money than sense

That's assuming Mr. Adams paid a dime of course...

Maybe I just have a different sense of the value of money of course.

(that's me trying to find a polite way of saying 1100 bucks for a 1w 1x12 rig my very large arse)

Edit - I take back the bit about people spending that much have more money than sense. That was unfair and I apologise.  Each to their own and enjoy in good health :)
