Socks?

What's Hot

I'm looking for suggestions. I want something with some colour, but in a nice looking way, not a comedy "homer simpson socks", or "Gibson lifestyle brand" kinda way.

I did have a good run with Happy Socks but they've gone overboard with stupid bright colours of late.

Current favourites are Maison Impeccable from kickstarter - clever silver & carbon-infused cleverness and nicely padded soles, but I have all the good colours already and still need more socks.

Any recommendations for something work- and home-appropriate?

If you're willing to pay, Paul Smith. I usually have a load of bog standard socks augmented with a couple of nice PS.

Yeah, happy to pay for a good pair. The ones I posted were about 40 quid for 3 pairs iirc, but they make me smile every time I put them on, and they're comfortable after a day in and out of airports and seeing clients, so it's a win.

I have plain black "Pringle" socks.

I do wear 2 pairs though -heavy work boots and I suffer from chilly feet- so not certain they'd be what you want.

Everyone needs a pair of cervelt socks in their life.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

Holy shit the price! They're probably lovely, but ultimately they're beige (or maybe, if we're being charitable, Dark Beige) which is completely unacceptable.

The problem with 'luxury' socks is they can't really be worn every day.
    They aren't hardy enough.

Mrs Oct bought me some Corgi socks about 2 years ago, I think they are about £40 a pair.
They feel great and I wear them maybe twice a year when I have to don a suit for a formal occasion.

Day to day I have some Ted Baker and Paul Smith socks.

Yeah, that's why I like the kickstarter ones - they're actually really well made as a priority, and just a little bit thicker than regular cotton/wool socks without feeling like "thick socks". A lot of expensive socks are nice when new but fall apart or wear out inside a year, which is just shit.

Those are nice socks, I only ever buy black socks as we seem to have a sock eating washing machine, a pair go in, one sock comes out. buying only black socks mean I never have an odd sock. =)

I am thoroughly uninterested in all-black socks. Life's too short.

Also, we have a housekeeper who pairs my socks, so it's not a concern!

Imagine the day you find that hole at the back of the sock :(

Wolsey are pretty good. Their bamboo socks are really soft and would suit your local climate. Not sure on longevity though.

At that point I can only assume you get your man to pop to the tailors and have them darned, post haste.

Bamboo is probably great, but why are they all such dull colours?

As long as you don't have your suits cut so that your socks are visible.

    It simply oozes tastelessness.

    With bleachers, yes.

I may dispute that. trousers should kiss the tops of one's derbies sir. Next question: are you a belt or side adjuster sort of man?

Socks - there is a simple rule, only one: if wearing a suit, your socks should be darker than the cloth of the suit.

Uniqlo do good socks - good materials, quality, and a range of patterns and colours.
Others of note -  John Smedley, Paul Smith, Duchamp and Cos. Falke do very good socks, especially if you are looking for block colours.

I love socks. I've got a bit of a thing for them really. Far too many. I'm a sock magpie.

No synthetic fibers either - make your feet sweat and itch, nasty
