    Chuck's playing here, sublime...

I love Chuck! In my childhood I played a lot of Green on Red songs in various beat combos.

Good call on Be Bop Deluxe @AuldReekie!

Here's John Petrucci tugging on ya heartstrings:

    And Ian Thornley at 4:25:

The outro solo here (from 2:25), I don't think it gets any better for shear personality and expression:

  • This may turn out to be inappropriate on this sad day, but a solo that I have always found epic, emotional, excilerating like leaning into a wind tunnel, is Kim Thayil's solo in Like Suicide

Have always loved this...particularly from 4.04.

Probably not overly complex....no real technical reason....just like it....

(And love the Mayer "Slow Dancing" one too...)

The solo in this (about 3:57 in) is just fucking awesome. It's so happy and melodic. Perfect balance of technicality and musicality. The bit about 4:30 ish sounds awesome through headphones as well.

Never heard of him, but good to see the Bully on here (although unintentional)

Ok, just found this again - hadn't listened for a while.

2:40 onwards is one of my favourite solos ever.

Jan Akkerman's solo on Focus Live at the Rainbow during the slower section of Eruption.
Starts at 3:00. His tone and those harmonics building to most incredible controlled piece of feedback at 04:12
So beautiful and controlled. You can feel that the amp wants to let rip but he's teasing it.
Breathtaking..puts a lump in my throat every time.

Yodeling aside, it's a fantastic bit of music
    I listened
sounds pretty dull to me I'm afraid
    lots of mistakes too

Under The Floor Again by The Damned.
Great song.  Solo isn't the most complicated, but I've always absolutely loved it.  It's a perfect fit to the song, and very soulful.

Solo starts 4 mins in.   I've always loved Captain Sensible's tone and playing.

I love the touch and feel of Thomas Blug's playing. Here's a good track

EDIT: Just played this right through for the first time in ages, Damn, that's mighty fine playing. 100% what i aspire to as a guitarist to be honest.

I first heard this as an early teenager on the Friday rock show. I only heard a small snippet and didn't know who it was until years later. Turns out it was Uli Roth with the Scorpions giving it full chat on a 200watt Marshall Super tremolo. To me that is what rock guitar sounds like and still gives me the shivers.

Hmm, well rather than mention one of the usual suspects how about Michael Karoli(rip). I really love the whole second half of Oh Yeah off Can's Tago Mago LP.

    Something different.
