Here's John Petrucci tugging on ya heartstrings:
And Ian Thornley at 4:25:
Great feel, phrasing, melody, timing and technique and as an 80s kid, I like the sound, too.
The 2 solos in Thin Lizzy's Live & Dangerous version of 'Still in love with you' and keeping with Thin Lizzy, the solos and themes in the song 'Roisin Dubh (Black Rose) A Rock Legend'.
Santana's 'Europa' from Moonflower is up there as well.

Probably not overly complex....no real technical reason....just like it....
(And love the Mayer "Slow Dancing" one too...)
Best venue in Oxford by a mile
2:40 onwards is one of my favourite solos ever.

lots of mistakes too

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin
But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to
Great song. Solo isn't the most complicated, but I've always absolutely loved it. It's a perfect fit to the song, and very soulful.
Solo starts 4 mins in. I've always loved Captain Sensible's tone and playing.
EDIT: Just played this right through for the first time in ages, Damn, that's mighty fine playing. 100% what i aspire to as a guitarist to be honest.
Something different.
