Some serious lapses of judgement in this thread! Shocked by some of the songs mentioned.

Yes but you're wrong and so is your face

Mustang Sally ... My fingers tremble and sweat and clench into fist at those words from a pissed up punter . "Hey mate do you play that Commitments song?"
A longtime band mate of mine hated that song with a vengeance. Normally he was a really laid-back and easy going guy but if anyone requested that song he turned into a snarling beast. Quite scary really.

...............and Waterloo is one of the greatest pop songs of all time, so there's that.
And there was me thinking that Abba fans were only women of a certain age  =)

Anyone else want to 'come out' as a Eurovision enthusiast?

...Lady in Red - Chris De Burg...

Yes that one would be high on my list. Fortunately I've never had to play it.
Of the songs I've had to play in a band, I'd say my least favourite was probably Brown Eyed Girl.
    It's not a competition.

A bit, but mostly an ABBA fan.

Waterloo isn't just a Eurovision song - firstly it's the best Eurovision song by a mile, and secondly it's just a great piece of glam-pop songwriting regardless of Eurovision - it would almost certainly have been a hit anyway. The rest of their song catalogue is great pop music, with a surprising (if you've never really listened to the lyrics) emotional kick to a lot of them, even some of the apparently throwaway ones.

One of the best groups of the 1970s - just because they had a couple of pretty girls in the band and kids liked them as well doesn't mean they're rubbish.

Elvis.  I know its not a song, but anything he got his burger encrusted gob around was killed dead for me.  Never understood the adoration for the fat fucker or why he is still played on Telly and radio.  As soon as anything comes on I turn off.

I don't understand all the Elvis hype either.

Probably "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion. Not helped by working on the CD/video counter in Woolworths when Titanic was released on video. Otherwise I don't mind most stuff. (I love Umbrella btw - I think it's a fantastic pop song!)

    Moves Like Jagger
Especially as Jagger's Moves are essentially drunk uncle at wedding that had no rhythm even before he drank 8 cans of Tennants Super.

Moves Like Brown would make more sense.

What's Up? by 4 Non Blondes is, to me, the most potent piece of ear-trash to ever have the temerity to call itself a song.  Rancid song, shit delivery, "kooky" bullshit personnel.

When we did Desert Island Discs on here I listed Aga Doo ( or however you spell it). Perfectly happy song that knows what it is and is a lovely reminder, to me, of taking my kids to naff discos on holiday when they were little.
