Let me be the first to point out that the nights are beginning to draw in...
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

Despite hosing her down a few times a day and making sure she has plenty to drink, Sprocket is really suffering - took her to the vet yesterday 'cos she's started to get head wobbles. Looks like the heat is pushing her stress levels and setting off low level epilepsy.

I'll tell her to man up though. I'm sure that'll help.

I seem to remember reading that wasn't true. Iirc Sunset actually gets later after the longest day but we get a bit longer before it rises

just checked, not actually later, but stable.  the nights are due to start drawing in by 1 minute on July 1st, but a later sunrise means we will have lost about 8 minutes of day by then

Anyway back to the heat - does anyone know if I should be watering my veggies if this hot dry weather persists all week?

Im guessing potatoes don't need much intervention but the other stuff might.
Make sure to water the roots @Iamnobody, avoid the leaves as water droplets on leaves exposed to harsh sunlight act as little magnifier glasses. Tomatoes sulk like crazy in this weather if there's not enough water on the roots.

If you have a greenhouse limewash the glass or use Summer Cloud on the panes to reduce the heat getting through. Mind you, with all that, it was still 100F in my greenhouse today!
Thanks I've got the kids on it with the watering can!

    :( poor beasty.

I've seen warnings about walking dogs in hot weather, and the risk of burning paws. :(

Ours is treated like a right princess and stays on the tiles all day, but she's a border collie so pretty tough.

Sprocket is indestructible when it's cold or rainy. She's had two clips this year and is still melting.

Just been to Aldi to stock up on black pudding. 61F & raining here in Lancs, welcome relief from the sticky muggy weather. =)

It's cooler here now in South Wales, but apparently the house is still a bit muggy.

3 trains cancelled and the rest late... No announcement as to why, so... Are the trains sleepy due to the weather?

Trains plus hot weather are not fun
