What do you guys do with the shadow hills? Do you whack it on the master bus then mix into it?

Shadow Hills can be used on anything. I like it on the drum bus.

That's one way ... or after the mix and before you 'master' it .... 

Thinking the Metric AB might be a useful as well .... good reviews on the slutz

@IMC1980 I really rate it, it certainly has a place, but can be used just as a limiter or it's main use to add presence and harmonics to a mix (or a track).

I have heard good things about it, but have just been on the Shadow Hills page on Plugin Alliance... Decisions! Haven't bought a plugin for years as well.

What benefit do the plug-in alliance bx console series give over using individual plugins? Is it purely easy of workflow? Or are they more targeted at people who are used to using a traditional mixing desk?

I'd say both ..... certainly laid out in a fashion that desk users are familiar with, and the overall cpu load could be less than using individual plugs ....

It's mostly a workflow thing. If you have the same EQ and channel compressor everywhere, once you learn its sound and where every knob/ button is,  you can quickly decide on settings and move on. There's also a reasonable argument that there's a sonic benefit from having something that brings a common element to everything in the mix.
