Spank. I have no idea what the word means when describing the sound of a Stratocaster...
Haha I had a tutor that would say "spank it" before I went up and performed on stage during live performance workshop lectures.
I think that comes under 'grooming'.

This isn't exclusive to guitars and is more of an American thing but the expressions "pull the trigger" and "flip" when used regards the buying and selling of gear are pretty excuciating.

"Whammy bar" and "tremolo arm". One is just lame, the other incorrect and two decades after I started playing I still have no consistent or agreeable way of describing that particular component. If forced I'd probably just go with "wiggle stick".
I have to say, I sometimes flip; is there a better term for buying something and then selling it on quickly for a profit?

I also refer to the tremolo arm as the whammy bar* (it was in the lyrics to a Frank Zappa song and it stuck).
*Attached to a Stratocaster and then played through a Fender Champ, if I remember correctly.

I'm also unsure how you would describe the condition of frets and how much they are worn down without referring to the quantity of fret wear.

I can understand people not liking terms like "meat left on the frets" or "railroad tracks" but I must be missing something here..

I think it's like some people can't stand the word 'moist'..?

so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

I don't think moist can ever have positive connotations when used in relation to guitar gear.

Ah, but I am positive i can play moist of my guitars with my eyes open. It's when they're closed it goes a bit pear-shaped.

You should get a towel for on stage use if you are playing moist..

Meguiars do a drying towel for drying your car after washing it.
It's a yellow waffle type of affair and costs about £15.
It is THE best thing to have on stage with you for drying off hands and wiping your head and face on.
I used one for years until I lost it and before I start playing regularly again I'll be getting another one.
Trust me they're worth every penny.
