Considering that many think me the biggest grump on the forum, I'm not actually that bothered by anything thus far mentioned.

The one thing that riles me a tad is the mention of 'lawsuit' guitars, as if it magically makes them worth more or something.
Even on your most grumpy of days you pale into insignificance on the grumpy scale compared to Lord of the Grump, Grumpius Ceasar, the laminate-laying avoider from Wales.

    "Pups" when referring to pickups.
Irritates the fuck out of me.

I will remember this and always refer to pickups as pups when I see you. Ahahaha (I know I'm an evil fucker)

"Piece". As in "this most accurate 59 historic reissue ever, at least until next years more accurate reissues, is a lovely piece".

More to do with guitar lessons but people referring to one-on-one sessions as a "class". Irritates the hell out of me. Surely a "class" is plural i.e a room full of people? E.g at school the "class-room" is full of 20-30 kids.

    Tone.
I don't know why, I just hate the word. I much prefer 'sound'.
    This x 1000.

Your voice (and your guitar) has a sound.  The tone is the expressive dimension which you add to that, that has sod all to do with the gear.  As in "don't talk to me in that tone of voice".
Some of the gear, some idea

Surely it's down, down, deeper and down for Quo ? :)

One day I'm going to make a guitar out of butter to experience just how well it actually plays.

    I think you'll find it's spelt "p'ups"

    ;)
That's correct - because it's an abbreviation, with an apostrophe :). It's still stupid though.

But a pup is a young dog, and anyone who uses it to mean a guitar pickup will be shot on sight ignored from that point on in the thread, whatever their question was.

Plays like butter (or worse, "buttah" - that's probably the only time I have or ever will type that)
    Axe
    Poly
    She
    Phat

I like supporting breasts. And weighting them...

One thing that annoys me with musicians in general is when they mix sharps and flats.

It happened in a rehearsal recently, the band was playing in Eb and a minor 3rd up was Gb but it was described by someone as being F#.
I know I'm being snobby about it but it really winds me up.

Oh and 'selling for a friend' irritates me too.
It almost always reads as a transparent attempt to try to keep the asking price high- I'm sure some are genuine.

Roadworn for a guitar that will only see a factory, a shop and a bedroom.
Relic for a mass manufactured product that's objectively made worse on purpose

I know it's a controversial subject, and the terms used are a bit crappy, but the actual finish of a mild relic is something I really like.

Having done a few relic style finishes myself, I find myself just not enjoying the feel of a completely pristine guitar any more.

I like the aesthetic of lacquer checking, and I like the worn in feel of a bit of relic.

I wouldn't buy one to try and pass off as a old guitar just cos it's cool - for me, I'm finding that I actually prefer the way they look and feel. Some look terrible, but a few I actually prefer to shiny and new.

Then again, I'm a bit weird like that..
