just just for the look really, I am considering glueing some dummy screw heads in them.
Ah letting the pickup breathe. That's a little known tone secret - keep it under your hat. ;)

    Wez, thats epic.

Oh and please cover that top up - those ugly stripes in the wood grain ruin the clean lines of the guitar. ;-)

     Yep Gotta be translation gold

Your life will improve when you realise it’s better to be alone than chase people who do not really care about you. Saying YES to happiness means learning to say NO to things and people that stress you out.

or, do i just need to forget the last 60 years of guitar production and remind myself that the people at gibson in the early 50's would have just covered it up

  • Yes you do then someone in 40 year's time will have the joy of discovering that top underneath the gold and you'll have the delight of knowing it is there.

That just created an uncomfortable moment of overly positive reaction -namely this picture.

Covering it up with gold will stop that kind of embarrassing release happening in public. Not covering might cause a few arrests, but wow!!

Stick to the original plan, that was the inspiration for the build!

The main cause of doubt in the outer 2" on either side.  Up to this point they looked totally unfigured.  The sealed coat has shown the figure doesn't stop dead in an uncomfortably straight line, it actually fades out really nicely.

there is still an odd yellow streak near the centre line but the colour is more consistent than expected and could be evened out with a tint.

Given the state of your neck joint, you can't use what Gibson did back in the 50s as a basis for what you're doing today.

The 51 example that's so different from the 52 says different.

but mainly the neck join is there to be one of the obvious structural differences that stop it being a fake Gibson.  It doesn't stop me wanting to do things the way they may have done them.  I know that's a little at odds, but it makes sense in my head

i am truly on the fence with this decision
