Been offered a thinline mij jag at a respectable price. I've had an offset itch that needs scratching for quite sometime.

I can't really afford it but it's the first one I've ever seen 2nd hand over here and it's local...

The wife will kill me.

I should buy it right?

    Let's look at the facts

Your wife will kill you and you can't really afford it.

So pissing the wife off spending money you haven't got to buy another guitar would be silly, but you'd be being silly, getting ignored by your wife enjoying a new guitar in peace.

    Do it.

No. Absolutely awful things. More feedback than a Katie Hopkins opinion article.

You seem to be labouring under the misapprehension that feedback isn't a good thing.

To be fair, the OP did ask for feedback, so it would be a good choice

    Sporky,

I had one when they first came out. Utterly uncontrolable and I use very clean amps and low gain generally.

Dreadful sounds, a pig's ear of a guitar.

Maybe there's some other way to scratch that particular itch..?
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

Pay for it on a credit card - tell the good lady that you've not brought it yet as MC or Visa paid for it and you will endeavour to pay them back soon and as such you 'don't own it yet - At least you'll get what you want asap

Tell her that you've bought on behalf of a forum member, and he's asked you to look after it until he next comes to Zurich.

the stock pickups aren't amazing but they weren't that bad. They are however, unpotted.

Replace the pickups and the bridge and its an awesome guitar and the feedback issue goes away
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

You do the celebrated Axisus gambit - have the guitar sent to work, dismantle it, smuggle the parts home then announce that you are going to make something up from spare parts that you have lying around.
