1 March. I was doing well until we got to flights. I filled in the survey while sitting waiting for my 49th of the year...

  • What's interesting is being a regular meat eater is reasonably in line with being a semi frequent flier. So if we all went vegan and bought primarily locally grown food, we would balance out any needs for flights. Of course, even better is to be vegan, source food locally AND rarely fly.

Mine was July 18th, I lost out on food - I get supermarket food and eat meat occasionally.

What's scary is how many earth's we would need to live like me. 2 and a half I think it was! We seriously need to start paying attention to this stuff and not just writing it off as a bunch of hippies trying to dictate how people should live...

April 3rd.  20 hours flying this year (against the usual 12) to attend my daughter's wedding.  Of my 120 miles driving each week, 80 are spent on a round trip to see my ma, who is 89 and wouldn't go out at all unless I went over to take her out.

So, once again, it's the old people who re to blame lol!  :#

The main problems probably being living in a large brick house, driving over 100 miles to work and back (no sensible alternative), and eating a fair amount of meat. Even so it surprised me a bit since I almost never fly, very rarely replace household goods and recycle everything I can.

Meat is a huge contributor - it's no longer a luxury product but something mass produced at the expense of the environment.

I'm not a vegetarian but I do believe there are better alternatives.

Farmed salmon are an example of the waste in the meat chain - fish are used to feed the fish we then eat... But the fish used to feed the salmon could be used to feed us with less wastage and environmental impact.
