    And Adrian Belew live ...

I hadn't realised Adrian Belew was such a good rhythm player. He established a great groove at the start but (going into picky mode) does anyone else find the groove unsettling when the band come in? There seems to be a sudden lurch forwards in tempo at around 37s. The bass player (in particular) seems to be pushing the beat too much for my taste.
There's a very famous (and reportedly true) story about Bowie and Stay.

He gave Belew the tapes of the intro (2 guitars on it- don't mean the main lead bit).

After 45 mins of contortion, he turned to DB and said "I think I've nailed it" Bowie laughed and said "There's 2 guitars there- I was teasing you...." Belew: "Yes I know, but still, I think I've managed a way to play both licks and I'm there.

@stratman3142 Re Belew's rhythm playing, I've posted this 5 or 10 times- the chordal work is utterly amazing.

Totally wouldn't surprise me if were a true story - Belew is a beast!

I genuinely believe he is technically the greatest of all time, any genre or style. Nobody has the entire arsenal like he does.

The Ziggy Stardust phase was the magic period for me, so it will have to be Mick Ronson. There was also some superb bass playing by Trevor Bolder.
When playing the Gene Genie, he proves it definately is all in the fingers!

If we are not ashamed to think it, we should not be ashamed to say it.

I am glad that said "Favourite" and not "Best".It frees me up to choose Mick Ronson whom I saw when he played his Slaughter on 10th Avenue tour.Amazing night and one of the best concerts I have ever been too.I met him twice and will never forget what a kind and humble guy he came across has.Glad hes not been forgotten and getting some recognition now.

@Lozboy Don't mind admitting I'm jealous. Ronson is one of the reasons I took up the guitar.  Simply a fantastic player. Never heard a bad word said agamst him as a person - a rarity in show business.
