How a bad smell remains in your nose for hours

What's Hot
RockerRocker Frets: 4986
In the past few days Mrs Rocker and myself went to an area close to our home. The people there were complaining of a very bad smell for several weeks. Seems a farmer had spread human effluent on his land. When this occurs the farmer is required to plough it into the ground immediately. This process did not happen for several weeks, it is done now but the neighbours had to endure a sickening smell for weeks.

When we got home we could still smell 'the smell'. Whereas when we visited the lavender farm in Norfolk, the nice smell did not linger in our noses as the bad smell did.

Something I observed.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. [Albert Einstein]

You should've titled your thread 'An Observation' for extra lol-credits.

It's times like these that I'm grateful I carry an emergency pack of Airwaves with me.

I still remember the smell of a decomposing body. It stays with you that one.

That doesn't reflect well on the NHS waiting lists.

I was recently at my mum's in a Somerset village, we took the dogs out for a walk and walked past a freshly sprayed field. The air seemed thicker and it was so strong I could actually taste it and it burned the back of my throat. If it was like that for then you have my sympathy

There's been tons of complaints in the local press here in Lancs recently about the biosolids sludge united utilities spread on farmland, it's supposed to be ploughed under ASAP after spreading to contain the stink but is often left for weeks.

I was once on a bus and a load of teenage boys got on who had just doused themselves in Paco Rabanne One Million.  I could still smell it as I was walking home 10 minutes after I got off the bus.

Yes.....because I was having trouble breathing due to the cloying scent of what seemed like one million sprays of One Million.

It is my observation that this is not the best opening line to a thread. ;)
