I have taught a lot of overseas graduate students in my time, and that reminds me of the sort of thing my Chinese students used to come up with when using an on-line translator. Could still be a genuine Cambridge student - after all the name of the game in education these days is 'bums on seats', and overseas students bring in a lot of cash. Also worth noting that many Chinese students also adopt a western name when studying abroad.
