So...today I eventually bid farewell to this...



Try as I might, I couldn't get on with it.

It sounded like shit, had neck like a cricket stump and looked like it'd been made with bits from old cookers.

However, salvation was at hand in the form of this...






In short, a trade I am most pleased with...

Beautiful mate, well done. I too have been down the "why do people like these 330s" route - wanted one for years, got it, hated it. 

Anyhow. 

Stock pickups on the AV65s aren't half bad - I mean I changed mine out in the end, but thought they were pretty nice and open / woody sounding, as a good Jazzmaster should be. Recall the neck being pretty nice in particular.

Funnily I've went the other way. I've sold a Jazzmaster and Jaguar (almost) and got a 330. I love it. I tried for years to get on with Fender Offsets but they're such a pain in the arse and sound a bit rubbish and flat.

The Ric 330 is one of my favourite guitars, they look the bees knees and sound amazing. I know I sold mine, but on reflection I should have kept it... that said I do still have one Ric so I'm not too bitter!

I've only got small hands so the tiny neck on tge Rics suits me just fine and (I'm probably in the minority here) I really like the gloss fretboard.

As much as I like the Jazzmaster, given the choice I'd take the Ric any day.

We're all different, I guess.

I must admit that 330 looks beautiful.

The Jazzy's are also very singular guitars, hope you get on with that better.

I used a borrowed 330 for about six months and granted it felt like a plank of wood to play, but I found it surprising versatile.

However, that Jazzmaster looks tremendous.

I adore my Ric 330 -its been my number 1 guitar for around 10 years.  I dont have any gripes with it other than it can be a pain to restring
