I had an almost identical Rickenbacker apart from it was a blue one, and all it sounded like was..... well.... a rickenbacker -never have I ever been so underwhelmed by a guitar........... it sat in its case for a long time.. and was used on one recording with nashville tuning

Stock pickups on the AV65s aren't half bad - I mean I changed mine out in the end, but thought they were pretty nice and open / woody sounding, as a good Jazzmaster should be. Recall the neck being pretty nice in particular. 

What did you change yours for, and did it make much of a difference?

The smart money is on Seymour Duncan Antiquity series pickups. (I'm not just saying this because I am trying to sell one to H7. They worked wonders for my AVRI '62 Jaguar.)
