So, after foolishly venturing into a Marshall 2525c and hating every atom in its cab, I swapped it (+100 quid) for this beauty.

As much as the Marshall disappointed, this is utter bliss- lovely break up, chime, scoop- a truly brilliant amp

AC15 Hand Wired.

It's a lot bigger and heavier than I expected.

Love it already and with P90's it's sonic perfection.

The key word is 'musical'. It's very very musical, like a Lazy J is very musical and a TSL isn't.

I used to have one of these and they are superb. I prefer a different type of amp (hence having a Columbia Reverb and a Blues Cube Artist as backup) but I really loved it for all the reasons you mention Gassage. Quality bit of kit for sure. Enjoy!

It really is lovely and strident. It appears to love my Gretsch too.

Jim- in your endless quest for 'that bedroom special amp' this is worth considering. But it does like to breathe a bit so not so great at uber low vols.

All good- Winnie says hi to you all!

Likewise Bouncer. Very happily re-united with my 73 Vibrolux. But as you know constantly dither between Fender blackface and Class A EL84 - Both. the business IMHO.

  • Nice combo James. If you ever get a chance to play through an RD Amplification Dualist with the Lazy j20 that would also sound great. It's what i have been doing for the last few gigs. In Stereo :)

  • This is the best Vox I have played, of a good few both old and new. If I was after an el84 amp I'd have one like a shot

I'm getting a bit of an urge for an EL84 amp, thinking Bad Cat Black Cat 30R or maybe a Cornford Hellcat (though that's probably a bit of a different kettle of herring).

I sold a Blackstar Artisan 15 a year and a half ago or so and regret getting rid of it.

  • Nice! I'm a big fan of the ac15, despite being a very mid heavy tone it is very musical and sits great in a band mix.

@Gassage, your usual muff style fuzzes probably won't work well. I use a boss ds-2 and a zoom ultra fuzz for mad fuzzy goodness if you want that ;)

These are on my radar, too. Great amp. And I think that fawn covering is probably my favourite of any amp. Even beating tweed for looks!

Agreed. The KOT is wonderful with it, as are @ThorpyFX 's muffs and treble boosts which are slighty lower gain than Pete's.
