There are a number of ways to view the content here.
The two that I mainly use are
- section by section,
ie where the threads are usually related to the title of that section (ie Gear>Guitar, or Classifieds>Parts, etc).
and
- Recent Discussions, which presents a complete mix view of threads across all sections, ordered by date.
Those views work for me on a PC/Mac and on an iPad (my eyes aren't good enough for browsing by phone screens!).
My questions;
- Who uses the Recent Discussions view as their default / usual view?
- Did you know that you can configure the Recent Discussions view to include/exclude individual sections of the forum, so that you can create a personalised view of Recent Discussions but limited to the sections that you're interested in?
Comments
I usually just do section by section.

They should create a button just for that.

Yes you can.
In the view where you see all the section headings, you see a black cogwheel icon between the section heading and the number of threads in that section.
Click the cogwheel alongside the section that you don't want to see in Recent Discussions.
Select "Hide".
Now, whenever you're in Recent Discussions view, any threads from within the section that you've hidden will not be shown.
You can still see all the excluded threads from the main view as before.
2) didn't know about that feature. It's that available on mobile view though? Most of my time on here I'm on my mobile.
I noticed that If you leave a tab open this forum doesn't show the number of visits correctly. Not a criticism just an observation. When hitting the back button to return to a section (or recent discussions) the forum will auto refresh the page. That got me thinking about how visits could be updated when a tab is left idle for hours to correctly guess number of visits. Would need a tone check on a specific cookie I guess.
@notanon
See my post at 11:23 - you can configure the Recent Discussions on your mobile. At least, I could do it on my state-of-the-art Galaxy S6
SC threads should be excluded from Recent Discussions by default. You have to explicitly opt-in to have SC threads included in that view.
If you opt-out (ie select "Hide") for a section, then it stays excluded from Recent Discussions until you opt back in.
How many people are now thinking about how to work those three words into a post?
