  • Recent Discussions is almost always my starting point. I didn't know about the customisation option. I'm not sure whether I'll use it but it's useful to know.
    It's not a competition.

    I go into RD or my notifications ( if I have any). Extremely rare for me to go home page and select a category unless I was looking to buy something.

    I use it all the time too. And filter out all the fx for sale and of course anything that compares a Helix to an FX8.

    I never use Recent Discussions, and didn't know it was configurable until today. I still won't use it, though - I prefer to browse section by section, focussing on particular threads of interest. Even if it can be configured to list individual threads, I still won't use it - can't be bothered with the idea of lumping everything into one list.

    Far easier to just go to the section and look at the thread titles to see if there are any new ones of interest, or if any of previous interest have new posts. In some cases, I'll set a thread for notifications, but I don't do that very often.

  • I don't use it either and I've never used the customisation option either.

    I use Recent Discussions all the time either on phone (mostly) or laptop. I know about the customisation options but I'm happy with the defaults.

    Since the removal of the Mark All Viewed button I keep track of where I'm up to by navigating to
    www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussions/markallviewed
    once I've read up to where I reached last time.

    Recent Discussions is the page I have bookmarked on my browser - so yes, use it all the time. Didn't know about being able to exclude certain sections, but do now, and yes, that is useful for me. :)

    Q3. Can I include set it toinclude/exclude on mobile?
    I use mobile 95% of the time

    No, my children just don't let me use my computer. :dissapointed:
    This is why my children have my old computer.  I get to use mine in peace.

    On the original question, I normally view section by section.

    @TTony I don't seem to be able to find an option for including SC in my Recent Discussions. :(

    @DLM ;
    Go to our "home" page (click "home" in mobile view, or the big logo top left in full browser view) to display the list of sections of the forum.

    SC is towards the bottom.

    Look for the little black cog wheel.  Click that and there should be an option to "unhide".  Once unhidden, the SC threads should be included in your Recent Discussions view.

    Always have done and has been said before I have it bookmarked. I then pick and choose the threads that interest me.

    It's the first thing I click, I don't really see a need to exclude anything from it (since the misc section has got a lot more chilled out)

    1. No I haven't.

    2. No I didn't.

    However I'm now going to try it as my default, see how I get on with it for a few days.

    Hadn't tried it- does it show new topics, or new posts on old topics, or both?

    1. Recent Discussions is my default view for FB, I very rarely use it any other way; occ. might have a look at SC.

    2. I didn't know that.

    @mrkb ;
    The view shows all topics that have had a new post, sorted by the timing of the latest new post (ie the thread with the most recent post is at the top of the list).
