Naming Guitars...

I might now name 3 of my guitars after famous footballers - not because they are hero's of mine, but the remind me of my playing

Messi - Duff - Dyer

Tele, Strat, Les Paul. That's what mine are called.

I was Only trying to save you some trouble mate. Carol from accounts was not impressed when I told her I'd named my Tele after her.

You do have a point as well, this is a google listed forum, not down the pub, there is always the chance someone might get genuinely offended by a joke or comment and none of us want that, so I've removed it.

Honestly man don't worry with high powered binoculars distance is no problem at all.

When people refer to guitars by a name other than the one designated by the manufacturer I find it hideously embarrassing (in my opinion of course)

I don't name inanimate objects; not cars, guitars or anything.
Some people sex them, but that's not my thing either.

Funnily enough I named my guitars about a month ago. This is partly because I have 2 Pacificas, so saying 'hand me the Pacifica, please' didn't work any more. My names are very unoriginal - 
Natural Wood Pacifica - Woody
Silver Pacifica - Silver
Squier Bullet - Bullet
Danelectro - Dan
Epiphone LP Standard  - The 45. (Because it cost me £45 at an auction)
It's just a useful way of defining what's what really, rather than some romantic notion. I haven't even started on the acoustics.

Only my old strat plus which was metallic root beer in colour, that was called chocolate. For some reason it had a personality of its own. Gutted when it got nicked.

Just like Clapton's Brownie and Blackie I named my Strat Bluey.

I don't know why though.......... it's red.

Because if you call a guitar 'Reddy' it sounds as if it may go off too early in your hands... Hang on, I'll rephrase that!

I suppose if you're one of the greats such as Clapton or BB King you can get away with naming your guitar,but if you're a middle manager from Slough it's a little harder to pull off.
