Just to avoid further accusations from @Alnico I've broken out the more powerful lamp and taken some slightly better pics!

It may not be everyone's cup of tea but I really like the finish, and it plays beautifully.

I am a very happy bunny tonight!

**Edit**

I've now been able to take some much better pics with my decent camera. Natural light shows off the finish so much better!

The colours are right, but the grain could be better in all honesty; however!! That doesn't mean it's not a beast of a guitar. Canadian Maple can be ugly, but my favourite guitars have been made of it, so there.

This is the best Les Paul I've seen and there's very little flame in sight too:

I actually went for this precisely because it's not just another flame maple. It's hard to show it properly in this light but it looks slightly distressed and faded. It's also a stupidly solid block and sustains forever. This is the T Traditional (Traditional Traditional?! Whatever Gibson!) and has no weight relief at all. It's a beast, and I like that. I tried several standards, a couple of classics and a few traditionals before settling on this.

Good on you - I'd love a Kossoff-esque Paul, but I just can't lift em, so I have to look for SG-like alternatives.

    That's lovely Chris.

I totally agree about the top, it's nicer for not being flamey.
The lack of pickup switch surround adds to it's look too, very smart.

Well done man, looks awesome and different but still really familiar.

I really like that, it has the look of a much-loved stripped gold top or something.

My Classic has very little flame and I far prefer it to the Standard I sold - it looks far more, well, classic, like a proper thing to play than to look at.  I really like the way the antique burst looks anyway and this one is very pretty indeed.

Indeed, that was my thinking. If I'd wanted pretty I'd have gone PRS... I wanted a great guitar to just play. This has 2 tone, 2 volume, 3 way switch and a solid, heavy body. No taps or boosts or any of that stuff. Just a pure players guitar like they used to make. It sounds epic!

Plus I'm really into natural wood grains, and this has that in spades.

Ignore the others, I like that grain pattern.  Looks "real".

So, when does the goldtop arrive?
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.
