I'd get similar ones.  Just not as many.
    Probably this.

Given an attitude that the journey is the destination, I expect that I would still be engaged in a certain amount of experimentation with pickup and wiring modifications on pre-owned "bargain" instruments.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

    I only have two.
My main guitar is a homemade Esquire partscaster- so that'd be hard to replace, but I know what I did last time so yes. I'd recreate it.

The other is a Gretsch. It's the latest in a LONG chain of guitars for playing on those rare occasions when the Tele isn't what I want. I'm happy with it today, but who knows what I'd have tomorrow... Possibly a Cabronita.

I'd take all the money and spunk it on one lifer
But what do you do when the strings on that one go dead?

The whole point of having more than one guitar is to avoid restringing for as long as possible
Having one awesome guitar would not stop me still buying shit ones. Within a week I'd have another dog in the cupboard

  • I think I'd probably try to replace them all with one "lifer", but I reckon that's much easier said than done. I'd also want a lifer electric and a lifer acoustic, and I can see that getting expensive.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

I think one awesome goat would be enough.

Damn! I thought my edit was quick enough!

...what is the goat - guitar exchange rate? Does it go on weight? That is a particularly fine example you have there. How much?

I might struggle to find another of most of them. I have unpopular tastes.
So much so that “Tastes” is pushing it I’d say ;-)
    Red ones are better.

I'd replace my Cort X16, my X6 I keep for more sentimental reasons (it's a great guitar, but others are just better), replace my faith, and that's it. The basses would be merged into a better bass, and the rest of the guitars would turn into a better back up :)

    And that goat is awesome.

All my expensive ones I’d definitely buy back - DGT, R7, AVRI Hot Rod Strat

The cheaper stuff/self builds - meh

I'm currently building a parts tele which I am sure will be the end of all GAS and the greatest guitar on the planet... So far I have got the pick guard screws only. (Not even kidding, the rest is in the mail)
    Taylor GS mini - yes.
Ibanez AWD72 - yes (If I could find one)
Squier VM 70s Jazz bass - yes

The others are kept for sentimental reasons so if they weren't the same exact guitars... no.
    - Fender Acoustic of some kind, PRS Santana II SE, Vantage X-99, MiM Strat.

That lot doesn't amount to much ££ so I'd get a nice small amp of some kind, or that GOAT goat.

  • I'd want to start again with just a part of the collection - PRS Swamp Ash Special, DGT, Fender Deluxe Strat, Les Paul & a Tele or two...
0reaction image LOL 0reaction image Wow! 0reaction image Wisdom
  • I'd get one Tele, one acoustic, a bass and be done. Then I'd buy more.

I’d get pretty much the same again - a Strat, a Tele, and a Thinline. Only thing I’d change might be the colours.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

I'd get a 12 string acoustic and a decent synth.

Furch OOM33SR - absolutely get another, no hesitation

Fender Mike Dirnt P-Bass - replace with any decent 2nd hand MiM P-bass

2 x Squier telecasters modded to buggery - can't sell them now, partly because I'm really sentimentally attached and have both of them just how I want them, and partly because I doubt anyone else would value a crazily modded Squier, but if I had all the cash I've ever sunk into the two I'd just get the best tele I could afford and be done.

This thread has got me thinking. I just play at home so do I really need 8 guitars. Only 5 of them I consider ‘proper’ ones as one is a squire and a couple cheap acoustics don’t count.

I have a SG special, 60s tribite gold top and a Les Paul studio. Maybe I should those 3 and put it towards the les Paul i want. I don’t think at this point i’ll be in a band I think buying new guitars are temporary fixes to keep me enthusiastic rather working on my weaknesses.

then buy another sg later. :)
