congrats to you on your brave decision. and bear in mind that 'the worst time ever' may actually have been living the rest of your life feeling you were hiding from your true calling. that can wear a person down.

sometimes it's better to try, even if only to fall and go back or sideways, than to live in the agony of never having known. inertia is bad for the soul. agency liberating.

Whether the present is great or shit, you rarely know how you will look back on it in five/ten years. So sounds like a great decision. You can always go back too I guess if you need to!

forgot to mention this in my above post but that is really cool. there's a lot of 'clash of the sexes' rubbish out there at the moment, nasty spirited and counterproductive.
i think the reality is that most men and most women are decent people, and if they work together amazing things can happen.
so anyway, i just wanted to add that it's a lovely thing you mentioned that last bit.
congrats to your wife too for being so cool, and i hope this makes you both happier.

I tried that when I left school in the 60s and worked for Moss Bros. Trade in Leeds was mainly minted farmers, "giving our daughter a bloody good send off,  tha 'nos".

I did manage to sell a second-hand dinner suit though  to John Betjeman no less before he got the poet laureate job.

Guys, thank you all so much. It was in effect an “easy” decision to make but it was also utterly terrifying. I have 3 kids under 8, a mortgage and a very understating wife ( @ThorpyFX she’s too good for me! ). 

My boss has asked me to stay until the end of November which is a little annoying but it’s okay I guess. It ties in nicely with my stock arriving to work on and it’ll make the run up to Christmas quite unique after 13 years of worrying about weddings over the holidays. 

@Teyeplayer you’re very correct. This is a journey that will not be exactly as I have it planned in my mind and that’s okay. It will have ups and downs but I’ll make it work. This has been a long time coming. Glad you’re still digging your tele  

@TTony you betcha, I’ll be my own boss by then so I should have more time to talk about gear

Im looking forward to the future with a different outlook. Being wealthy is at the top of my list. No, not financially wealthy. Wealthy in the sense that I’m surrounded by what makes me feel like a rich man ; family, Music, my home... hopefully a new workshop soon... these are all things that I cant do without. Sure, i may hit a few hard months but as long as the bills are paid then I’ll be okay. More time with my children, wife, Gear and Music

Me too. I'm a photographer who used to do weddings, but I gave those up for several reasons, and I really don't miss them. If you'd like to swap stories, most of my problems came from the brides, so I'd love to know what you had to put up with from the blokes.

This happened today. I’m glad I’ve got 2 1/2 weeks left... I was desperate for her to pick up the phone a third time so that I could present her with my findings...

Colleague - youd better phone that customer, that suit was for today/tonight.

Me - sure (i phone the number on the docket)

Hi, its Scott from Debonair.. is ****** there? 

Customer - *bad line* is that you (inaudible) you little twat?!?! 

*line goes dead* so, i phone again. 

Me - Hi, its Scott from Debonair here. Can i speak to ******? He has a suit to lift *still not a great line*

Customer - theres no ****** here

Me - Oh sorry, i must have the wrong number (do i fuck, lying arsehole)

Customer - yes you must have...

Scott heads to facebook and types in customers phone number to the search bar which takes me straight to the lying cow in question and a profile pic of her with her son... the guy that the suit is for.

I phone her a third time (to pick a fight) but she let it ring out..
